Dukes of Hazzard’s Cooter: ‘Dukes Has Gone International’

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (Wireless Flash) – The Dukes of Hazzard might have celebrated rural America, but now it’s gone international. That’s according to Ben Jones, who played “Cooter” on the show and currently runs a Hazzard-themed cabaret in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Jones says Cooter’s Place is constantly filled with people from all over the world coming in to get a glimpse of Hazzard county and meet a piece of its history. He says the main appeal to foreign folks is that the show celebrates “the old American spaghetti western spirit” – only it substitutes muscle cars for horses. Jones will open a new Cooter’s Place location on Saturday (May 4) in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and hopes to get visitors from another nearby American icon – Dollywood.
