Summer Camp for Wannabe ‘White Stripes’
LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Now there’s a summer camp for wannabe White Stripes and would-be Weezers. The so-called Power Chord Academy is a week-long summer camp for teenage rockers, offering everything traditional summer camps do, but with a rockstar flair. Instead of standard camp activities like snipe hunts and weanie roasts, this camp, held at Southern California’s University of Redlands the week of July 21, will feature songwriting practice, jam sessions and a rock ’n’ roll talent show, says event spokesman Brain Joseph. Finally, campers won’t need to worry about yucky dinner treats like “mystery meat” since Joseph says they’ve hired some of the finest chefs in California to cook the junior rockers a daily gourmet feast.
