Tommy James Turns 55 (Apr. 29) – And Turns Emcee

NEWARK, N.J. (Wireless Flash) – 1960s-era singer Tommy James turns 55 on Monday (Apr. 29) but he’s not sitting around doing the “Hanky Panky.” The man who topped the charts with hits like “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Crimson & Clover” is now hoping to top the Nielsen ratings as the host of a new series, American Jukebox. James just finished filming the pilot for the series, which creates new videos for classic oldies, like his hit, “Mony, Mony.” Although James usually sings, not speaks, when he’s behind a microphone, he says he’s enjoyed the challenge, and is confident he’ll be able to become a Carson Daly for baby boomers. No word on if American Jukebox will become a series but James’ latest recording is Tommy James And The Shondells: Live At The Bitter End.
