Making a Film? Goober Pyle Wants to Help

FLORENCE, Ala. (Wireless Flash) – If you’re thinking of becoming a film-maker you might get some help from an unlikely source – Goober Pyle. That’s right, George Lindsey, the actor that played Goober on The Andy Griffith Show is becoming a sort-of down-home Robert Redford by hosting his own film festival. The George Lindsey/UNA Television and Film Festival will take place April 18-21 in Florence, Alabama, and works to educate young filmmakers through a series of workshops, showings and lectures. Lindsey, who calls his fest “Wal-Mart Sundance,” says he created it to encourage youngsters just getting into the movie biz. However, none of Lindsey’s work, such as Hee Haw or Cannonball Run II, will be showcased.
