One Mans Drug Baggie is Another Mans Art
One Mans Drug Baggie is Another Mans Art
NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) The art dealers at one New York gallery could technically be considered drug dealers thanks to their current exhibit: Art work made from cocaine and heroin stash baggies. Tom Fruins art, currently on display at the Stefan Stux Gallery, is made from zip-lock bags left behind by druggies in housing projects and resemble translucent quilts. Gallery owner Stefan Stux isnt worried police will arrest him for narcotics trafficking because the drugs in the quilts arent for consumption. Plus, he says if a person really wanted to score some crack, they could do it much cheaper on the street since Fruins pieces sell for as much as $30,000. Stux says you could argue the artist is doing a public service by taking the baggies off the streets and thinks he ...should be getting a Boy Scout award for this.
