Despite New York Times Obit, Milton Berle’s Son Still Living

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Suppose you found out that you’ve been dead for 13 years on the same week your father died? That’s the dilemma facing William Berle, son of comedian Milton Berle, who died last week at 93. Although William is still alive and well, the New York Times obituary of his father claims he died in 1989 – which is dead wrong, considering the newspaper interviewed him in 1999 about his tell-all biography, My Father, Uncle Miltie. William doesn’t know how the New York Times obituary desk decided he was dead but thinks the information came from one of his dad’s handlers or his widow, Lorna, from whom he is estranged. The Times has since printed a correction but William says he’s still dealing with journalists who fear they’re talking with a dead man or an imposter.
