GEEZER PETER RABBIT SAVES KIDS

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Would you believe Peter Rabbit might be the thing to save kids from all the misery and trauma of growing up in war-torn 2001? Well, that’s what a representative from the book’s U.S. publisher is saying. Penguin Putnam spokeswoman Kristi Conroy believes youngsters that have been raised on Jerry Springer, war and video games will latch onto Peter Rabbit because it’ll make them “...feel safe and warm and cozy.” Coincidentally, Penguin Putnam has declared 2002 “The Year of Peter Rabbit,” in honor of the 100th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s book. The kiddie classic was inspired by Potter’s own pet rabbit, and debuted in 1902. It has since been reprinted over 250 times and in 35 languages.
