HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS: TOP WEATHER EVENTS OF 2001

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Wireless Flash) – Here’s news only weather junkies could get excited about: A group of meteorologists is announcing the “most interesting” weather events of 2001. The forecasters at AccuWeather.com say 2001 will be remembered as the year of Tropical Storm Allison and the autumn warm spell which left Buffalo, New York, without November snow for the first time in 122 years. Other “interesting weather events” storming the list are more mundane, such as the September 7 storm that blew over a Snoopy blimp at the Kansas City airport and an April 10 tornado that damaged a dorm at Central Missouri State University. Finally, the weather-meisters will remember 2001 for a mid-August storm that caused torrents of raw sewage to flow into homes in Washington, D.C.
