NEW TRENDS IN MARTINIS FOR 2002

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash) – Fashion isn’t the only thing that changes from year to year – martinis do too. That’s according to Seattle-based bartender and martini recipe inventor Patrick Haight, who is predicting martini trends for 2002. He says this year’s hot “Kingston” martini – made with vodka, Midori and pineapple juice – will be toppled next year by his “Las Vegas Martini,” made with vodka and Goldschlager garnished with a playing card. Haight predicts the trendiest “tinis” will have an emphasis on the garnish – like his tequila-based “Mexi-Tini” which is garnished with a gummy worm. The Calvin Klein of cocktails also predicts the “Chi-Town Martini” garnished with a Blue cheese-stuffed olive and the “Coconut Martini” topped with shaved coconut will be popular. Purists may say a true martini is made with gin, but Haight claims the fancy-shmancy martinis always outsell gin ones.
