RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – This news will rock the music world: Buddy Ebsen is releasing a new CD of original compositions. The 93-year-old Ebsen has been writing songs for years but Buddy’s Originals is his first CD. For all the Beverly Hillbillies fans out there, it includes a version of “The Ballad of Jed Clampett,” and a duet with co-star Max Baer, Jr. But Ebsen is most proud of the tune “Spaceship,” which has lyrics like: We’re all riding on the same spaceship/ Ain’t it time we start to get along. Ebsen admits he’s no virtuoso: He confesses he writes most of his songs on piano with one finger and “...gives ’em to someone else to harmonize.” However, Ebsen is confident the new CD will give Britney Spears and Michael Jackson a run for their money – especially because one cut features him tap-dancing.
