PRISON CLOTHES INFLUENCING MEN’S SPORTSWEAR
NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Prison wear is influencing men’s wear this spring. According to the National Association of Men’s Sportswear Buyers, old fashioned black and white horizontal striped prison uniforms are en vogue with men this year – non-prisoners, that is. Spokesman Jack Herschlag says the drab duds – similar to the ones worn by George Clooney in O Brother, Where Art Thou? – aren’t the usual springtime pastels, but are meant to reflect the current mood of the country. He says the prison stripes will most likely be popular around resort towns like Miami Beach and Palm Beach. Prison stripes aren’t the only arresting new fashion trend. Next spring, Herschlag says men will be wearing “slanty” wear – where the clothes button up on a diagonal instead of vertically.
