12-YEAR-OLD BOY INVENTS LUNCHBOX ALARM

NEW PLYMOUTH, N.Z. (Wireless Flash) – Losing your lunch may be a thing of the past, thanks to a 12-year-old Thomas Edison in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Nic James has invented the world’s first “Lunchbox Alarm” that he says was inspired by classmates who kept breaking into his lunch and stealing “all the good stuff – chips and Mars bars – and leaving fruit.” James’ security snack siren fits inside a small juice carton and when thieves open the lunchbox, the loud alarm is sent to the owner on a radio via a short-range FM frequency. The Lunchbox Alarm’s range is around 150 feet and it’s already thwarted a classmate who tried to steal James’ potato chips. Now he’s getting orders for Lunchbox Alarms from friends and is willing to sell his idea to “someone who wants to give me a lot of money.”
