HISTORIAN: PILGRIMS WERE A LOT LIKE NED FLANDERS

DALLAS (Wireless Flash) – Here’s a shocking revelation: A holiday historian says the Pilgrims were an awful lot like Homer Simpson’s annoyingly-cheerful next door neighbor, Ned Flanders. Kevin Orlin Johnson, author of the upcoming book Why Is This A Holiday? (Pangaeus Press), says the Pilgrims were cheerful, kind-hearted and family oriented – just like Flanders. He also says the Pilgrims resembled the do-gooder cartoon character in the way they were always concerned about doing the right thing. But the first American settlers were more like Homer Simpson in one respect – they looooved beer. Johnson says the average Pilgrim drank several quarts of beer a day and considered it an essential food equal to bread.
