HARRY POTTER SELF-SCARRING

HARRY POTTER SELF-SCARRING

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash) – The hit Harry Potter movie may be conjuring up interest in self-scarring – much to the horror of one body modification expert. As the story goes, Harry, the boy wizard, was branded with a lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead as an infant when an evil wizard tried to kill him. Jim Rose of the Jim Rose Circus says he’s afraid the movie will inspire some people to carve a similar scar on their own foreheads just to be like Harry. Although Rose’s career revolves around organizing bizarre stage acts, he says he has always been opposed to self-mutilation, especially when it became popular about five years ago. He says the trend has dropped off in recent years, but he “wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t already a Harry Potter scar out there somewhere.”
