GERBER BABY MODEL TURNS 75 TOMORROW (NOV. 20)

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) – You may not know the name Ann Turner Cook but you’d certainly recognize her baby face. Cook is the original Gerber Baby and posed for the famous baby food portrait when she was just four months old. She says she doesn’t remember the modeling job but the portrait was painted by her mom’s friend, artist Dorothy Hope. Cook turns 75 tomorrow (Nov. 20) and, while she enjoys the prestige of being the Gerber baby, it hasn’t gone to her head. She retired from modeling when she was 6 months old and spent 25 years teaching high school English in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Although Cook has been working all her life, she has no plans to stop. In fact, the Gerber grandma has just published her first novel, a mystery called Trace Their Shadows (iUniverse.com).
