HARRY POTTER EYE-POKING ACCIDENTS ANTICIPATED

NEW ORLEANS (Wireless Flash) – Harry Potter isn’t one of the Three Stooges – but his magic wand may trigger a rash of eye- poking accidents among kids. That’s the fear of New Orleans-based ophthalmologist Dr. Monica Monica, who thinks Harry Potter fans may try to imitate the boy wizard and accidentally poke themselves or others in the eye with makeshift magic wands. Dr. Monica says 35 percent of all eye-related injuries happen to kids younger than age 10, and she expects some careless kids could scratch their corneas or puncture their eyeballs with their toy magic wands. While Monica says she’s “1000 percent behind engaging in the creative and social play,” she recommends parents supervise kids who want to play with homemade wands and make sure the magical sticks don’t have pointed tips.
