NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts’ decision to wear fat suits in Shallow Hal and America’s Sweethearts is getting hefty criticism from one Hollywood filmmaker. Plus-sized indie director Allison Anders tells Entertainment Weekly that hiring skinny actresses to wear prosthetic blubber is as bad as putting white actors in blackface. Anders is especially cheesed off at comments made by Gwyneth and Julia such as “Looks aren’t everything. I once dated an overweight man with messed-up teeth.” Although it might not seem a big deal to you, Anders claims that if Gwyneth substituted racial words for every fat reference, the world would be outraged.
