WORLD’S OLDEST SHOWGIRL STILL HOOFING AT AGE 84

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Like most showgirls, Beverly Allen can do flips, cartwheels and splits. But unlike most showgirls, she’s 84 years old. Allen – who has been designated “The World’s Oldest Working Showgirl” – will be taking the stage in a show called “The Fabulous Palm Spring Follies” starting November 6. She’ll be joined by other senior citizen showgirls who do routines which are considered challenging for hoofers half their age. 50 years ago, Allen toured with the USO and says troops loved seeing her tossed in the air and spun around – stunts she still performs today. She says she’s always enjoyed acrobatics and has maintained her ability to do headstands and flips by performing regularly and doing a stretch routine before each show.
