FRANCE IS FAVORED IN ‘BREAKDANCING OLYMPICS’

HANNOVER, Germany (Wireless Flash) – Which country produces the best breakdancers? That question will be answered in Germany in a few weeks at the “Olympics of Breakdancing.” 15 breakdancing “crews” from all over the world will compete in the November 17 event, which is officially called the “Battle of the Year.” Founder Thomas Hergenroether says dancing styles vary widely from country to country: French crews are known for smooth footwork and good rhythm; Japanese “B-boys” do a lot of popping and locking; and Americans tend to emphasize acrobatic moves like headspins. Although the U.S. and Japanese teams have dominated the competition in recent years, the French crew is favored to win this year.
