SOY MILK SIDLING UP TO WINE SNOBS

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Would you be more willing to drink soy milk if it tasted like “redwood bark”? One soy milk company hopes so. The Vitasoy soy milk company is trying to change the perception that soy milk tastes “beany” or “grainy” by coming up with tastier terms. So they’ve hired San Francisco-based wine experts Jonathan Waters and Debbie Zachareas to guzzle eight different soy milks and give their feedback. The experts say some of the soy milks taste like “redwood bark,” while others have hints of “croissant dough,” “buttery nuts,” and “hot oatmeal out of steel cans.” It may be hard to swallow but Vitasoy officials hope the dippy descriptions wash away soy milk’s “health nut” stereotype.
