MEET THE TIGER WOODS OF MOUNTAIN UNICYCLING

VANCOUVER, B.C. (Wireless Flash) – Think riding a unicycle is tough? Try riding one up the side of a volcano or down the Great Wall of China. Incredibly, that’s what 28-year-old Kris Holm does for kicks as one of the world’s only “mountain unicyclists.” The Vancouver-based Holm started his one-wheeled ride to glory in 1997 and says it’s actually safer than mountain biking because there’s no handle bar for your face to smash into if you fall. Holm – who is featured in the December issue of National Geographic Adventure magazine – insists anyone can learn to ride a unicycle and, contrary to popular opinion, the seats are comfy on the crotch. Although “mountain unicyclers” don’t roll in the dough like mountain bikers, Holm says he doesn’t mind since bicycles are much heavier to carry.
