‘MISSION IMPOSSIBLE’ COMPOSER WRITES SYMPHONY FOR SULTAN OF OMAN

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Peace-seeking Americans might want to follow the example of Mission Impossible composer Lalo Schifrin, who has just created a symphony for the Sultan of Oman. The 69-year-old film theme king is hoping his hour-long “Symphonic Impressions of Oman” will help cultural understanding between Americans and those in the Middle East. Schifrin wrote the piece based on traditional Oman folk music and traveled to Oman twice to do research. He says he found the country to be “a place of magic,” and is dedicating the piece to the Sultan. Schifrin will record his Middle Eastern symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra next week and says the Sultan has already ordered 5000 copies of the CD.
