SWEDISH SCIENTISTS COUGHS UP DATA ABOUT THEATER COUGHING

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Wireless Flash) – People are more polite than you might realize when it comes to coughing during theater performances. That’s the discovery of Swedish researcher Mathias Broth, who has been researching exactly when people cough during plays. Broth says that the majority of audience members hold their throats during a play and only cough when an actor is leaving or walking onto the stage. Also, people usually wait to cough until there is a natural pause between characters or between scene changes. Amazingly, Broth says the average person can detect the right time to cough to within a hundredth of a second. Further study is needed but Broth hopes to cough up more findings before Christmas.
