DOBIE GILLIS TURNS ROTTEN

ENCINO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – After all these years, the actor who played straight-arrow sitcom character Dobie Gillis is showing his dark side. Dwayne Hickman will play the “bad guy” in Surviving Gilligan’s Island, an upcoming TV movie about the trials and tribulations of making the 1960’s sitcom. He plays a CBS network executive who hates Gilligan’s Island and gets to act like a real jerk in all his scenes. Hickman says he had lots of fun playing the evil role after years of being a goody two-shoes, but adds, “Of course, it’s a comedy jerk, so it’s not like I’m a heavy duty bad guy.” The actor knows quite a bit about network TV suits, because he was a CBS executive from 1977 to 1987, working on shows like Good Times and The Dukes of Hazzard. However, he says he was always “nice and easy” to work with. Surviving Gilligan’s Island will air Sunday (Oct. 14) on CBS.
