SINGLES SPEED DATE FOR CHARITY

SINGLES SPEED DATE FOR CHARITY

RESTON, Va. (Wireless Flash) – On October 13, singles from Washington D.C. will be able to help the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks just by going on a few dates. That’s when a local dating service called Brief Encounters U.S.A. is sponsoring a “mini speed dating marathon” to raise money for the American Red Cross. Singles will be able to plunk down $25 to be paired up with eight different dates lasting five minutes each. At the end of the marathon, they get the phone numbers of the folks who interested them most. All of the money collected at the marathon will go to charity and organizer Renee Fisher says the goal is to get 300 singles to pitch in $10,000. She says singles may be hit especially hard by the terrorist tragedy because they don’t have “significant others” to comfort them.
