CELL PHONES COULD HELP SNAG BIN LADEN

BERKELEY, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – The ring of a cell phone may soon toll for Osama bin Laden, if a man in Berkeley, California, has his way. Jon-Erik Beckjord is trying to convince the U.S. government that bin Laden could be found within days if the Air Force were to drop 5 million rubber- covered cell phones all over Afghanistan. Beckjord says the “terrorist telephones” would be connected directly to a hot line where Afghan locals could snitch on bin Laden’s whereabouts in exchange for a $25 million reward. Admittedly, some cell phones might get in the hands of Taliban supporters, who could then lie about bin Laden’s whereabouts, but Beckjord isn’t worried. He says it only takes one person to spill the beans so the U.S. can nab the terrorist. He also wants the government to bribe any starving Afghanis into revealing bin Laden’s location by air-dropping granola bars along with the phones.
