CANADIAN KIDS CHOIR POTENTIAL NOVELTY HIT?

LANGLEY, B.C. (Wireless Flash) – A 60-voice children’s choir from Langley, British Columbia, is the latest fave of musicians like David Bowie. Back in 1976-77, the Langley Schools Music Project, a choir of kids between ages 9 and 12, recorded 21 songs for an album for their parents and teachers. The record was forgotten until earlier this year when New Jersey-based producer Irwin Chusid decided to release the kids’ “campfire rock” on a new CD, The Langley Schools Music Project. Chusid claims the Langley kids have an innocence that “brings people to tears,” while others describe the music as pre-teens “sing- shouting” popular songs backed by xylophone. However, David Bowie says he likes the sound and says the children’s version of “Space Oddity” is a piece of art he never could have conceived, “...even with half of Columbia’s finest export products in me.”
