NFL ROOKIES ARE REAL CARDS

DALLAS (Wireless Flash) – If you want to meet NFL rookies, don’t hang out at the stadium, just go to the local card shop. According to football collectible expert John Kelley, this year’s rookie crop is more interested in football cards – especially their own. Kelley says many of this year’s rookie players, including Carolina Panthers Quarterback Chris Weinke, have been collecting cards for years – and consider getting their own as a sign they’ve “made it.” Not all rookies consider trading cards an ego boost. Some players like Philadelphia Eagles receiver Freddie Mitchell are more interested in using their cards for future investments. But that may be hard for New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister, who says he fears his mom will throw away his rookie cards before they have any value.
