RELICS UNEARTHED FROM ‘TEN COMMANDMENTS’ SET TO GO ON DISPLAY

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – A real-life piece of Hollywood archeology will have its day in the sun next month. On September 13, the Hollywood Entertainment Museum will launch an exhibit containing items unearthed from the long-buried set of Cecil B. DeMille’s 1923 biblical epic The Ten Commandments. The movie’s set has been buried under the Guadalupe Dunes near Santa Barbara, California, for 60 years, and excavators recently pulled out some of the faux Egyptian artifacts. Museum curator Chris Horak says most of the 720-foot-wide set still lies under the sand, but the exhibit will show radar images of it as well as some of the plaster Egyptian statues and hieroglyphics. Excavators will probably never be able to reconstruct the entire set, but the fragments that remain are the oldest Hollywood set pieces in existence.
