ORGANIZATIONAL EXPERT: ‘DOWN WITH PAPER CLIPS’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – An expert in organizing is giving a thumbs down to the lowly paper clip. Professional organizational trainer Hope J. Lafferty claims paper clips are the “arch-nemesis of effective filing” because they mangle paper and can get caught on other pieces of paper in a file. She says paper clips also add to the clutter on your desk because they’re hard to store and seem to “have a mind of their own” by getting caught in your chair or your computer mouse. Lafferty recommends using staples instead – and you can always use a paper clip as a stress-releasing toy to twist to your heart’s content. She’s the author of the new book, Organizing Workspace: A to Z (Work Books International).
