XANADU: THE MUSICAL

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Olivia Newton-John fans rejoice: Her 1980 movie Xanadu is finding new life as a stage musical. Former Caroline In the City co-star Amy Pietz and her husband are producing the revival, which will be staged in Los Angeles this October. The show, which is dubbed Xanadu Live!, will feature 24 roller- skating actors wearing headbands and legwarmers while lip-synching the film’s soundtrack. Pietz won’t be appearing in the show, but says she’s watched the show from the audience and it was the most fun she’s had in a theater in years. Xanadu Live! is also getting a thumbs-up from Newton-John, who says she’s thrilled about the tribute and hopes it will become a hit. All proceeds from the show will benefit breast cancer and AIDS charities.
