GARY LEWIS TURNS 55 (JUL. 31)

BUFFALO, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) – Singer Gary Lewis may have had his biggest hits in the ’60s but he’s seeing better days ahead for his music. These days, Lewis – who turned 55 yesterday (Jul. 31) – performs hits like “This Diamond Ring,” “She’s Just My Style” and “Everybody Loves A Clown” mostly on the oldies circuit. The son of comedian Jerry Lewis says he’s also ready to release his first CD of new material in more than 20 years as soon as he finds a record label who will sign him. Lewis says the songs are modern but designed to appeal to the people who bought his records back in the ’60s. In addition he’s considering making a movie about his stint as an Army typist during the Vietnam War and he thinks Matthew Broderick should play him.
