JACKIE CHAN: ‘I HATE VIOLENCE’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – For someone who stars in action movies, Jackie Chan has an unusual distaste for violence. Chan tells the upcoming Parade magazine that he “hates violence” and tries to keep the bloodshed and body count low in his movies, preferring to emphasize action and humor. Chan has a good reason to hate violence: He was beaten almost every day as a child by his teachers at the China Drama Academy – where he learned to be a martial arts expert. “I remember dropping a piece of rice on the floor and the teacher caned me,” he says. “It made me never want to hit anyone.” You can check out Chan and his fists of fury in the new movie Rush Hour 2, which opens in U.S. theaters August 3.
