TIPSY TICKER KEEPS TRACK OF BARS’ BOOZE OUTPUT

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) – Bar owners now have a high tech way of keeping track of their booze: A “tipsy ticker” that attaches to each liquor bottle in the joint. The new gizmo is a pour spout that contains a microchip and transmitter to measure each ounce of liquor as it’s poured and send the data to a computer. The so-called “Vital Link Beverage Tracker” has been in use at a handful of bars for a few weeks, but the manufacturer hopes hotels, chain restaurants and nightclubs will snap them up. A spokeswoman says most bar owners use the tipsy trackers for inventory, but some install them just so they can keep their bartenders from pouring extra booze into drinks.
