DOCUMENTING CANDY HISTORY NOT SUCH A SWEET JOB

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Think doing a TV series on junk food would be a sweet job? Well, it wasn’t for TV personality Marc Summers, the host of the new Food Network show, Unwrapped. The series examines the history behind popular junk foods and Summers says he gained five pounds from the candy episode alone. Although Summers was thrilled about getting to taste Bonomo Turkish Taffy, which has been unavailable for 10 years, he was also forced to try sickening flavors of soft drinks including a licorice-flavored soda. He also admits he was disillusioned to discover that Bit O’Honey candy didn’t taste nearly as good as he remembered. Unwrapped debuts July 16.
