RIALTO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Modern day fireworks will go off with big bang tonight thanks to a high tech computer chip. The device – called a “Smart Fuse” – allows for more precise explosions during displays and is replacing older-style firework fuses. Fireworks specialist Jim Souza says previous fuses have an error of about two seconds, but the new high-tech fuse is so precise it can be timed to the exact beat of a musical score. Souza will represent the United States at the International Montreal Fireworks Festival in Canada on July 14.
