JERRY SPRINGER SHOW HOME TO INHUMANE NAMES

IOWA CITY, Iowa (Wireless Flash) – An Iowa man who wants to make sure children are given “humane” names says trashy TV talk shows are example of what bad names can do. Mike Witry is the founder of The Institute For Naming Children Humanely, which is dedicated to “...a better society through better names for children.” Witry says parents who choose bad names for their children risk raising “demented” offspring because of the mockery and humiliation associated with offbeat or unusual names. He says some of the best examples of “inhumane” names can be found on the Jerry Springer Show where guests have appeared with names like “Juicey,” “Chopper,” “Gwain” and “Tico.” Witry says it’s best to give your children traditional family names because – as he puts it – “If they’re good enough for our ancestors, they’re good enough for us.”
