CAN THE PILL PREVENT KNEE INJURIES?

KEYSTONE, Colo. (Wireless Flash) – Can the Pill prevent knee injuries in women? A new study suggests so. Researchers at the University of Michigan have found women are almost three times more likely to tear a knee ligament while they are ovulating. The study suggests women who take oral contraceptives may be able to prevent these injuries, because of the effect that has on ovulation. However, the lead investigator says the results are preliminary and more research needs to be conducted to justify popping the Pill to prevent popping a knee. The study is being presented today at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine meeting in Keystone, Colorado.
