UNKNOWN COMIC TURNS 56 TODAY

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – The Unknown Comic is having an “uncelebrated” birthday today. Comedian Murray Langston, who, back in the late 1970s, put a paper bag over his head and told cheesy jokes on shows like The Gong Show, is turning 56 today (Jun. 27). Langston says he never intended to make a career wearing a bag over his head – he was just an out-of-work actor who needed cash and figured the stunt would help him get into the actors’ union. He was an immediate hit and parlayed his Unknown Comic shtick into movies and TV shows. However, he wasn’t always able to use his success with the babes because, in his words, “Anyone can say they’re the Unknown Comic.” These days, Langston is semi-retired but admits a comeback could be in the bag, and this Saturday (June 30), he will host a Gong Show marathon on the Game Show Network.
