POINTER SISTERS WANT TO BE SAMPLED

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Although some old school singing groups can’t stand having their tunes sampled by rappers, the Pointer Sisters aren’t one of them. Anita Pointer admits she gets “so excited” about the latest trends in hip-hop that she hopes some musicians will sample one of her classic songs like “I’m So Excited” or “Neutron Dance.” Pointer thinks the band’s old hits “need to be heard” and figures sampling them is the best way to get them out to a younger audience. The Pointer Sisters are one of the acts performing at A Capitol Fourth, which will be broadcast live on PBS July 4.
