DUBAI – Talk about a snow job: A company in the Arab state of Dubai is creating a ski slope in the middle of the desert. Landmark Exhibitions has imported more than 400 tons of snow and ice to create a “Snow World” tourist attraction, which offers summertime skiing and toboggan rides.

ROANOKE – A lawsuit pending in a Roanoke, Virginia, court gives new meaning to the term “slippery slope.” Plaintiff Mary Lee Sowder is suing a local pet store for $100,000 after she slipped in a puddle of dog slobber and damaged her knee.

HOLLYWOOD – John Travolta may make some money off his box office bomb Battlefield Earth after all. A group of Battlefield Earth- loving sci-fi fans has offered the actor $700,000 to attend a British convention honoring the flick.
