CONFETTI TO REPLACE 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS?

ORLANDO, Fla. (Wireless Flash) – Unusually dry weather is forcing some cities to cancel Fourth of July fireworks displays – but an Orlando, Florida, firm thinks it has a good spark-free alternative. A company called Special Effects Systems is launching a line of hand-held confetti shooters that propel the shredded paper up to 30 feet in the air. The gadget is a 16-inch-long which resembles a Star Wars light saber, and users launch the confetti stream by twisting the bottom of the tube which triggers a blast of carbon dioxide. A spokeswoman says the company hopes the ban on fireworks will encourage the use of the fire-retardant confetti launchers for Fourth of July festivities.
