COMPANY SAVING ‘RAT-INFESTED’ COMPUTERS FROM TEXAS FLOOD

NOVATO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Computer bugs are bad enough but what do you do when you have rats in your PC? A California company that specializes in retrieving lost data from computers is facing that problem right now with a batch of computers which was flooded by tropical storm Allison. A spokesman for DriveSavers says the hard drives were contaminated by dead lab rats, various chemicals and even some human viruses. Although workers are wearing full-body “containment suits” while cleaning up the mess, the rat stench has permeated some masks, and at least one tech has thrown up. To help flood victims, DriveSavers is offering anyone whose computer was damaged by the storm a 50 percent discount on repairs, which can range from $700 to $10,000.
