SAN DIEGO MAN ‘STREET SAILS’ ACROSS U.S.

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) – A San Diego man is proof where there’s a wheel there’s a way. He’s about to roll into the Guinness Book of Records as the first person to travel across America on a skateboard with a sail attached. 40-year-old Bob Torline started his quest April 29 in Brownsville, Texas, and has been “street sailing” northwards on American back roads for 6-8 hours a day ever since. He expects to finish his journey this Saturday (Jun. 16) in Maida, North Dakota, after dodging dangers like storms, farm dogs and a couple of cattle stampedes. Although Torline hoped his stunt would give national attention to street sailing, he admits he was unable to attract national media to his quest because no one wanted to send a camera crew out to the back roads he was traveling on.
