SEATTLE BAND DEDICATED TO SCI-FI AUTHORS

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash) – The next trend in rock music may be the library, thanks to a Seattle band that plays nothing but songs about science fiction authors. The band calls itself Bloodhag and performs death metal ditties that are mini-biographies of sci-fi writers like Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. and Ray Bradbury. Guitarist Jeff McNulty says the band also dresses up like computer nerds and throws sci-fi novels to fans during performances in the hopes of getting rock fans to read more. Although Bloodhag plays its share of gigs in bars, McNulty says the band also tours libraries in small towns in hopes of teaching teens that reading rocks. Despite only singing about science fiction authors, Bloodhag still attracts hundreds to its shows. However, McNulty admits that it’s difficult to get the band’s message across because the music is so loud no one can understand the lyrics.
