OSCAR WINNERS LIVE LONGER THAN NOMINEES

TORONTO (Wireless Flash) – Here’s another good reason for actors to lobby for Oscars – winning one can extend an actor’s life span. According to a new study by the University of Toronto, Oscar winners live an average of four years longer than actors who never receive one of the coveted statuettes. Researchers compared every actor who has ever been nominated for an Academy Award and discovered the average age of death for winners was 80, while the average age for Oscar-less actors was 76. Scientists aren’t sure why Oscar winners tend to live longer, but theorize the higher social status they gain from the award may be a factor. The research appears in the latest Annals of Internal Medicine.
