DON’T FORGET TO ATTEND THE U.S. MEMORIAD 2001

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Are you good with names and faces? Well, that skill could help you win the U.S. Memoriad Championship 2001 this Saturday (May 12). The contest requires folks to memorize 99 names and faces, recall a 500- digit number, remember 500 random words and other memory challenges. It seems impossible, but contest spokesman Tony Dottino claims the trick to memorizing is doing what he calls “anchoring”. Anchoring involves associating something you want to remember with a word, and then using the word to create a story in your head. When you repeat the story, you can remember the information. Skeptical? A man named Wallace Bustello uses the method, and he still holds the world record for the most numbers remembered with 109 digits. This weekend’s winner will continue on to the World Memory Championships in England in August.
