THE HOUSE THAT GARBAGE BUILT
SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) If youve ever thought your house looks like a dump, its probably because it is. Recycled trash is being turned into building materials for new homes and public buildings including old beer bottles which are finding their way into tiles and countertops. Dwell magazine reports steel-belted car tires can be turned into a roof shingle product and old scraps of denim are being turned into fuzzy blue insulation. The recycled building products are just now hitting the market and cost about as much as traditional materials. However, prices are expected to drop as soon as more contractors adopt the trashy products.
