SERIAL KILLER ROLE GIVES ACTOR SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Playing a serial killer isn’t a laughing matter – except for actor Steve Railsback, who says he discovered something to grin about while researching his role as a serial killer for an upcoming film. Railsback – who will play Ed Gein, the real-life inspiration for Psycho character Norman Bates – says he mastered Gein’s schizophrenic smile. The 52-year-old actor says he discovered a case study on Gein which told of his curious sly smile. It puzzled Railsback enough to spend hours reading medical psychology books trying to learn all he could about schizophrenics. After hours of daily reading, he says he finally hit the gold mine when he discovered schizophrenics often have sly smiles, which he used while playing the mad killer. Ed Gein, the movie, will debut May 4.
