CEREAL BOXES VALUABLE TO BASEBALL COLLECTORS

CARLE PLACE, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) – Making money in baseball collectibles may not be in the cards – it could be in cereal boxes. According to baseball memorabilia expert Steve Verkman, old Wheaties boxes can fetch big bucks from hungry collectors – especially several 1930s-era boxes with baseball cards on the back. One 1935 Wheaties box featuring Lou Gehrig is worth $3000 and even those featuring non-baseball athletes like Babe Didrickson have value as well. Verkman says a surprising number of homes could be hiding a small fortune in old cereal boxes – but only if the boxes are empty. He says no one wants boxes with the cereal still in there because “Those attract bugs.”
